Chitchat (chitchat.gg) is a random chat platform that pairs you with a stranger for a one-on-one conversation. It runs in a mobile or desktop browser with no download, is free to use with no ads, and uses interest-based matching to nudge who you land on. There is no algorithmic feed and no curated content, just a conversation with someone new.
How a random chat works
When you press start on a Chitchat text chat, you’re paired with someone else who is searching at the same moment. If you’ve added interests, Chitchat looks for a person who shares at least one of them. If nobody like that is free within the wait you’ve set, five seconds by default, the search opens up to everyone.
In a text chat, the other person sees your public profile, such as your username and avatar, but never your email. By default, pictures they send arrive blurred until you choose to look, and every message passes through moderation as it’s sent. You can leave at any moment and start a new search. If a conversation clicks, send a friend request: private messages only open between friends.
Text needs no camera and works on any connection. Video asks you to sign in first, so people who break the rules can be removed and kept out.

Moderation was built in as core infrastructure from day one, meaning real-time automated review, human escalation, and face-based age checks, rather than something bolted on after growth arrived.

Started publishing the receipts
We began publishing our own enforcement numbers: dated, sourced from production systems, and rounded down, never up. Random chat does not have to mean unmoderated chat, and we would rather show the receipts than just say we take safety seriously.

Age verification
Accounts that signal as under 18 must pass a face-based age check with a third-party provider before they can keep chatting. More than 40,000 suspected under-18 attempts were blocked in 90 days.
A few habits that help
- Keep identifying details back. Your full name, school or workplace, address and social handles can wait until you know who you’re talking to.
- Leave whenever you want. You don’t owe a stranger an explanation, and nobody is told why you left.
- Report, don’t just close. Closing the tab leaves that person free to start the next chat. A report is logged against their account and that chat, then reviewed.
- Stay on the platform. Being pushed onto another app before any real conversation is a common spam pattern, and it takes you out of reach of moderation.
- Never send money. Asking strangers for money, gifts or payments is against the rules, and so is anything that looks like blackmail. Report it and leave.

How do I delete my Chitchat account?
You can delete your account from your account settings, or by contacting our support team if you would rather we handled it. A registered account is not deleted immediately: logging back in within 30 days cancels it, and after that window it becomes permanent. A guest who deletes their own account is signed out at once and cannot sign back in, so that deletion cannot be cancelled; the account is deleted 14 days after the request.
How do I get unbanned from Chitchat?
Appeals go through our Help Center, where you can submit a request. Bans for confirmed violations generally stand, but every appeal is read, and if a ban was applied in error we reverse it.
