Three layers, not one filter
Any of them can act on its own. We don't publish how detection works — that would help people dodge it. We publish what it did.
Watching in real time
Automated systems review activity as it happens — not only after someone files a report.
People on the hard calls
Detections and user reports both go to a human queue when judgment is needed.
Age checks when needed
Accounts that look under 18 get a face-based age check before they can keep chatting.
After you hit report
Reporting is on every chat. Closing the tab doesn't reach us — the button does.
Logged right away
Tied to the account and that specific chat, even if automation already flagged it.
Reviewed
Clear cases can be handled automatically. Trickier ones go to a person — and humans also double-check what automation already actioned.
Resolved, not ignored
Confirmed violations lead to a ban. False reports don't punish the person who was reported.
Think someone's underage? Report the account. Don't wait for automation to catch up.

What we leave out on purpose
Transparency isn't publishing every number that looks good.
Raw age-check counts
Age verification only runs when someone looks underage — so a raw count can be read the wrong way either direction. It's one layer, not the whole story.
A growth headline
New-account totals mix guest sessions with fully registered users. Until we can separate those cleanly, we won't publish a growth number we'd have to walk back.
Queue wait times
Turnaround moves with traffic and goes stale overnight. What stays true: every report is logged, reviewed, and either actioned or dismissed.
What we can't do for you
Moderation isn't a substitute for how you show up with someone you've never met.
- Don't share anything identifying until you know who you're talking to.
- Leave the second a chat feels wrong — no explanation owed.
- Hit report instead of just closing the tab.
How we count
Short version of how every number on this page was produced.
- Time windows
- Moderation figures use April 17 – July 16, 2026. Reach figures use April 17 – July 15, 2026 — one day short of that window, noted rather than smoothed over.
- Rounding
- Every figure rounds down from the exact internal count. We never round up past the true number.
- No competitor data
- We don't compare ourselves to other platforms here. We don't have verified, comparable numbers for how they measure enforcement.
- Actions, not people
- Each row counts an enforcement record, not a unique person. One chat can produce more than one record.
FAQs
Is Chitchat safe?
Chitchat is moderated in real time — automation, human review, and age checks when needed. In the last 90 days that meant 100,000+ enforcement actions, 89%+ before anyone reported. No platform can vet a stranger before you're talking to them, so keep personal details out of chat and report anything that feels wrong.
How many accounts does Chitchat ban?
In the 90 days ending July 16, 2026, Chitchat took 100,000+ enforcement actions — about 8,000+ a week — across under-18 access, spam, severe policy violations, and deceptive & scam accounts.
Does Chitchat verify ages?
Yes. Accounts that look under our age threshold go through a face-based age check with a third-party provider before they can keep using the platform.
Is Chitchat's moderation automated or human?
Both. Automation handles most of the volume in real time. People handle judgment calls, including user reports that reach that stage.
What happens after I report someone?
The report is logged, reviewed (automatically and/or by a person), and either leads to enforcement or is dismissed — not left in silence.
Can minors use Chitchat?
No. Chitchat is 18+ only. Suspected under-18 access is our largest enforcement category — 40,000+ blocked attempts in 90 days — and confirmed underage use results in a ban.
How many countries use Chitchat?
In the 90 days ending July 16, 2026, visitors from 190+ countries used chitchat.gg.
